PBExpo will be having their inaugural Maintenance Games at the annual PBExpo Conference in Miami Beach, FL on March 11 and 12, 2026
March 11th games will be for school teams to compete. March 12th games will be for industry technicians to compete.
There is no cost to compete in these games. School teams consist of ~ 5 students who compete in ~7 events. Industry technicians (one per company) will compete in ~3 events.
Winners are calculated on quality, sportsmanship, professionalism, and speed. Prizes - provided by Snap-on will be awarded each day for the winners.
The events consist of (subject to change):
Cable Rigging -
students will have to properly install and adjust cable rigging according
to maintenance manual guidelines provided them.
Wiring Troubleshooting
- students will have to troubleshoot a wiring harness to determine faults
in harness.
Safety Wiring -
students will have to demonstrate their safety wire skills on a set of
bolts in various configurations.
Towing business jet -
students, while wearing a VR headset, will have to successfully tow a
business jet from the ramp to its parking spot.
General Visual
Inspection of a SEL aircraft in VR – students, while wearing a VR
headset, will have to do a visual inspection of an aircraft and find
potential faults in the aircraft.
Fluid Lines – students
will have to fabricate a complex rigid line and properly connect it
through a bulkhead.
FAA FAR – students will
need to identify appropriate FAR references for specific situations.
Schools will compete in all events and industry technicians will complete in safety wiring, fluid lines, and FAA FAR events. All tools will be provided. Competitors are welcome to bring their own safety glasses and safety wire pliers.
